So you’re making cover art for your podcast? You must be close to launching which is very exciting and after all the work you will want your artwork to look as good as it can. Whether you simply have one design for your podcast or you’re doing episode artwork, below are requirements and best practices to help you on your way.
What are the Requirements?
Cover art for your podcast must meet these technical specifications:
Size: square; minimum 1400 x 1400 pixels and max 3000 x 3000 pixels (preferred)
Resolution: 72 dpi
File type: JPEG or PNG
Colorspace: RGB
Additionally, artwork must be original and can’t contain any of the following:
Blurry, misaligned, mismatched, or pixelated images
Explicit language
Placeholder images
Any trademarked designs, names, or products that are not your own
Visual representation of products of any identifying company that isn’t your own
References to illegal drugs, profanity, or violence
What are Best Practices?
Make your artwork simple and easily recognizable for search results.
Include your podcast title.
Use clear, large fonts and relevant imagery.
Use the maximum resolution of 3000 x 3000 pixels.
Avoid including too many logos of sponsors or advertisers (Can look commercialized)
Avoid putting artwork elements at the bottom of your image as they may be obscured by play progress indicators.
Be mindful of Dark Mode.
